Key Takeaways

  • Emotional resilience is built through consistent gentle practice, not willpower or pushing through
  • Reiki supports the nervous system to process and move emotions rather than suppress them
  • Ilke's journey: from pandemic-era skeptic to certified Reiki Master
  • Reiki complements - and never replaces - medical or psychological treatment

Some days, it feels like your mind is running fast-forward. Endless meetings, the to-do list never finishes, and just when you think you can pause, family needs pull you in another direction. Hormones rise and fall, memories and emotions surface, and that quiet inner voice of self-criticism creeps in. You try to be everything at once and still not be seen by others or yourself. It's no wonder you sometimes feel stretched thin - modern life asks women to hold so many layers at once, and even small moments for yourself seem to be impossible to prioritize.

My Journey to Reiki

I encountered Reiki in 2020, when the Corona lockdown began. I had just moved to another country, living in a small apartment, far from all of my friends and family members, many of whom fell ill at the start of the pandemic, and I had no way to help them. I stored so much guilt for not being with them. I distracted myself by overworking, consumed with worry for my loved ones, and endured it all in complete loneliness. I went through intense emotional turbulence, hormonal challenges, and countless sleepless nights.

This was the moment where Reiki gently stepped in - not to fix or erase, but to create a little space amidst the chaos.

By tuning into my energy and encouraging subtle shifts in my nervous system, Reiki helped notice the tension, soften around it, and let my emotions move instead of getting stuck and softened my thoughts. Over time, those small moments of presence made overwhelm feel less like a storm and more like a wave I can ride with awareness and clarity.

From Skeptic to Reiki Master

My first Reiki session was a long-distance channeling, and I was deeply skeptical. I knew nothing about it, yet an insistent inner voice kept urging me to try. I still remember that first experience as if it happened yesterday. When the lockdown finally began to ease, I started receiving in-person Reiki sessions - and over time, this journey led me to become a Reiki Master.

Something I also want to mention is that Reiki does not replace any medical treatments. It supports healing and works alongside Western medicine. At the same time, Reiki works only for your benefit and according to your needs. So that is why everyone experiences Reiki differently.

For me, Reiki worked quietly, like a soft hand on my back when everything happened that I explained above. It helped my nervous system settle, softened the constant tension between my emotions, thoughts and body sensations. Instead of pushing feelings away or stuffing them down, Reiki encouraged me to notice them, breathe with them, and let them flow.

From the Practice

"I encountered Reiki at the lowest point I can remember: isolated, worried for loved ones, sleepless. I didn't expect it to work. I wasn't even sure what 'working' meant. But something in me softened. And that was enough to keep going - all the way to becoming a Reiki Master."

Understanding Energy Centers

Reiki also gently interacts with energy centers in your body - often called chakras - that influence emotional well-being.

The Heart Center

Located in the chest, is linked to love, compassion, and connection, helping you process relationships and self-care with ease.

The Solar Plexus

Just above your stomach, relates to safety, confidence, personal boundaries, and inner strength, supporting how you respond to challenges.

By bringing awareness and balance to these areas, Reiki can help emotions move through you naturally, rather than getting stuck or suppressed, creating a sense of calm and clarity from within.

Building Emotional Resilience

Reiki works best when it becomes a gentle companion, not just something you experience in a single session. It may be supported by journaling and reflections. Over time, it helps you notice patterns in your emotions, understand your triggers, and respond rather than react. This awareness builds emotional resilience - the ability to move through life's ups and downs without being swept away by overwhelm.

Resilience doesn't mean never feeling stress or sadness.

It means having tools and habits that allow you to process, integrate, and release emotions in a healthy way. Reiki supports this process by offering a space where your body, mind, and energy can align, giving you the confidence to navigate daily life with more ease and presence.

Curious about Reiki?

What if a few quiet minutes could help you feel lighter, calmer, and more in tune with yourself?

Life will always bring moments of overwhelm, but clarity is possible when you create space to notice, breathe, and gently process your emotions. Reiki offers a subtle, nurturing way to do this - even if you've never experienced it before and even if you don't believe in it.

In a session with a trained Reiki Practitioner, you simply lie or sit comfortably while energy is guided to support your emotional and energetic balance. If you're curious, look for a Reiki Practitioner who makes you feel safe, heard, and at ease - someone who can explain the process and answer your questions. Even a single session can give you a taste of how calm, clarity, and inner presence can arise naturally, leaving you more grounded and open to life's flow.
